Genavine and Jennifer on Towne Avenue Genevine and Jennifer lived within a few feet of each other in nearly adjoining tents on Towne Avenue. Eventually Genevine , left, was ostracized, and forced to leave the block for unknown reasons. Genevine was an addict, and wanted very much for her life to be photographed and understood, as did Jennifer. Jennifer confided that she was learning disabled, and that she was ridiculed for most of her life in the small Southern town she came from. Jennifer stayed in the same spot for over a year until her death.
Genevine and Henry on 3rd Street
Genevine and Henry lived for a time on 3rd street off Los Angeles Street until they were threatened with a burnout (a total burning of all possessions) if they stayed. Theft and squabbling had made what was once a peaceful roost into an intolerable situation for the two. Henry had lost too much weight, and his hepatitis C was causing him considerable fatigue. Genevine was the sole support for the two, and used sex work as well as boosting from local stores as her income source.
